• Herefordshire Council was established in April 1998 as a unitary authority and took over the responsibilities of a number of district councils including Malvern Hills District Council.

• In February 1998 Malvern Hills District Council made a capital grant to the Trustees of Colwall Cricket Club to acquire land to create a second cricket pitch with facilities (Ghost Meadow) and improve the facilities at the existing ground (Stowe Lane) which was held under a lease granted by an individual (not the Council).

• Under the terms of the grant a legal charge was registered against on the Club’s lease of the existing ground at Stowe Lane for a term of 21 years (charge period).

• The charge period has now expired and the Club has requested that he charge be removed from the Club’s registered title.
