Allocation of Climate and Nature Grant Scheme.

On 29.07.21 Cabinet agreed to allocate £220,000 from the climate reserve to establish a new Climate and Nature grant scheme to empower local community groups, organisations and parish councils to apply for funding. Successful projects will deliver carbon reduction and ecological enhancement projects across the county.

The Grant Scheme was launched in September 2021 and publicised widely.

Applications were categorized into the following three categories:
• Reduction in CO2
• Increase in biodiversity
• Community engagement in action on climate and nature

Applications were administered by the Council’s Delegated Grants team and appraised by a grant appraisal panel consisting of Herefordshire Council officers and a member from the Climate and Nature Partnership Board.

The Climate and Nature Grant Panel met on Monday 6th December; 10th, 11th and 24th January and agreed to award the grants.

The full list of grants which met the funding criteria and are recommended for approval are detailed above.
