Re-allocation of approved capital budget

To approve reallocation of existing capital funding to support the adaptation works at the vacant facilities in the Maylord centre for security management and fire precaution work at Maylord and Widemarsh car parks.

The Property Services estate capital programme 2020/21 included £750k funding for fire suppression works at both the Maylord and Widemarsh underground/multi storey car parks. However, these fire suppression works were not undertaken.

A review was undertaken of the requirements to improve the fire safety of the Maylord and Widemarsh underground/multi storey car park, and  a smaller scheme of fire precaution works are now required which will not utilise all the allocated £750K capital funding. The requirements for fire safety in relation to the Maylord and Widemarsh underground/multi storey car parks will still be met.

It is therefore proposed to reallocate £350k of the £750k funding towards the costs of the fire precaution works and £250k to undertake the adaptation works for security management at the Maylord centre vacant facilities.
