Decision to transfer land to National Grid for
a new substation to be located adjacent to Halo leisure pool and
the council’s Pay & Display car park at St
Martin’s, Hereford
• A new substation is necessary to supply the voltage
requirements of new high speed car charging points in the public
car park, that are already installed.
• The new substation will be located on land currently subject
to a head lease of 70 years to Halo.
• Wherever possible Herefordshire Council will transfer the
freehold of substation sites to NG.
• The legal process requires the land to first be taken out of
the Halo lease, then the freehold can be transferred to NG.
• There is a separate decision for NG to surrender the old
sub-station lease and the cleared vacant site will then be
reabsorbed into the Halo lease area
