The Committee provides independent assurance of the adequacy of the Council’s risk management framework and the associated control environment and independent scrutiny of the Council’s financial and non-financial performance.

Previous to September 2005 this Committee was called the Statutory Accounts Committee.  It was renamed the Audit and Corporate Governance Committee in 2006, with extended terms of reference.
