To consider applications from Parish Councils to join the Lengthsman Scheme.

Decision:

that:

i.The Parish Council Minor Highway Maintenance Scheme be expanded to include the following Parish Councils:

Birley with Upper Hill

Bishopstone

Colwall

Cusop

Eardisland

Eardisley

Holmer and Shelwick

Kingstone and Thruxton Group

Kington Rural and Lower Hergest

Lyonshall

Much Birch

Putley

Pyons Group

Stapleton

Titley

Wyeside Group

 

 

ii. further parishes be invited to join the scheme in 2006/07; and

 

iii. the scheme be developed to cover a wider range of Streetscene functions to support the inclusion of one or more Town Councils from 2006/07.

Reasons for the decision:

To empower the Parish Councils to undertake the Minor Highway Maintenance Scheme in their areas.

Alternative options considered:

Applications from the Town Councils could be accepted but subject to a review of the functions delegations.
