The agreed syllabus conference received a report from the director of children and families which proposed the recommendation of a syllabus to the local authority. The Model b syllabus was proposed for recommendation to the local authority in the report. The RE consultant introduced the report and explained the process that had been followed to produce the recommended syllabus and the systematic approach to teaching RE that it contained.

In response to a query regarding the faiths that were included in the syllabus, the RE consultant explained that the syllabus contained a minimum requirement to teach the larger faiths but there was also an option to teach local faiths.

Both Councillor Stone and the SACRE Lead Officer would contribute to the foreword to the syllabus.

The syllabus in option b was proposed by Councillor Stone and seconded by Mr Harrington for recommendation to the local authority.
