Standing advisory council for religious education (SACRE)

Purpose of committee

The Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE) is a permanent body to advise the Local Education Authority (LEA) on matters concerned with the provision of Religious Education and Collective Worship.  SACRE is comprised of four groups or ‘committees’ representing, respectively: Christian denominations; the Church of England; such associations representing teachers and the local education authority. Meetings are open to the press and public.
