limited free parking in Red Meadow Car Park

To enable Red Meadow car park in Ross on Wye to allow four hours of free parking per visitor a day. This will be operational from period 21 June 2024 to 19 July 2024.

The Town Council and Ward Councillors have been lobbying Herefordshire Council via multiple channels to offer free parking in the town centre, as a response to the works undertaken by Welsh Water.

The Cabinet member has decided that being able to offer some free car parking is a suitable remediation offer to the retail outlets of Ross on Wye.

This will involve changing the parking machines, changing the RingGo parking app, and informing CEOs on the ground in Ross-on-Wye regarding these changes.
We will also make changes so that no vehicle can park for more than one four hour period per day.

These changes will then need to be reversed at the end of the free 4 hours parking period i.e 19 July 2024

The main driver for this decision is from the Town Council and several ward councillors. This is in response to work undertaken by Welsh Water in the Ross on Wye town centre, and perception this has affected retail income levels during the tie of the street works
