Plough Lane Car Park Lighting

In March 2019 a formal decision was taken to approve capital expenditure at Plough Lane car park to install lighting columns. This was to alleviate health and safety considerations around the use of the car park when it is dark.

The details of the required lighting columns have been designed by the councils contractors, and have obtained the relevant planning permission. This permission along with designs can be viewed here.

This decision approves this expenditure as it is within budget where this will allow the planned installation to take effect. The scheme will be delivered by the council public realm contractor and delivered under that contract.

It should be noted that this scheme was approved in 2020 in relation to potential different ways in which staff may work in the future. This car park will still be required by staff working at the Plough Lane office in the future and therefore the scheme will go ahead as planned.

Additional works for providing an electrical feeder pillar to the entrance may be undertaken with this works at a further expected cost of £1k. This would be required if barrier controls were required at the entrance.
