Purpose:

To seek approval for the funding of the Affordable Housing Development Programme in Herefordshire for 2007/8.

Decision:

THAT:

 

            (a)             the programme be approved for 2007/8 as detailed in the report;

(b)              the Head of Strategic Housing is delegated to re-allocate funding within the agreed programme budget for 2007/8 in the event identified schemes do not come forward;

(c)               Cabinet notes the progress made to date with externally funded schemes for the funding period 2006/8; and

(d)              the Cabinet Member for Environment and Strategic Housing be delegated to approve the allocation of further in year funding from housing capital reserves to support additional affordable housing development opportunities.

Reasons for the decision:

To enable the provision of a range of additional affordable housing throughout the County to meet local housing needs and promote independence. 

Although the report proposes expenditure within budget provision for the service, it is appropriate for members to endorse expenditure under this important strategic priority.
