To receive a report on the progress to date in developing the Directorate’s budget management plan for 2006/07 for Adult Social Care.

That:-

(a)   Cabinet welcomes the reassurance of the internal audit of budget management and control and recognises the need to maintain close monitoring of the 2006/07 Budget;

(b)   It is recognised there is a need to work with other local authorities to monitor and lobby for future funding of Social Care (Adults); and

(c)   Progress be given to the identified options to modernise services as outlined and in the emerging scrutiny review.

The Council has endeavoured to set a balanced Adult Social Care budget for 2006/07. In order to deliver services within budget a number of actions are required and these are set out in this report for Cabinet consideration.
