Save the River Lugg

We the undersigned petition the council to Preserve the river banks from devastation

Recent devastation of the River Lugg, clearly done by someone with easy access to heavy machinery and the riverbank, is so unacceptable that the people responsible are not fit to have access to the river banks. The Council has a duty of care to protect wildlife habitats and areas of special scientific interest such as this riverbank. The only solution is to proactively prevent access of harm-doers to these areas. The Council must act promptly to fix this destruction at the cost of the wrong-doers. Preventative measures going forward include buying back the river banks from farmers and large landowners, or confiscating them if there is the slightest infringement of their quality. A stretch of all riverbanks running along large owned areas of a minimum of 7 meters wide should not be accessible to heavy machinery and must be proactively monitored and conserved. Small domestic properties that border river banks are not included in this recommendation unless the property owner misuses the riverbank.
