The Solar PV for Schools PH1 award of contract is to Caplor Energy Ltd.

The council will use power purchase agreements with the reciprocal schools so that there is no upfront cost for schools for the solar PV systems. Schools will benefit by receiving renewable electricity at a discounted cost. The sale of the energy to the school will repay the capital investment and surplus will reduce the council’s own energy bills.

The solar PV installs will have a projected life span of 20-25yrs.

All schools have been subject to roof condition surveys - a number of schools are NOT suitable for install. Five schools will go forward for install (two of which will be post capital works in FY 22/23)
