Decision details
To open the libraries at Leintwardine, Peterchurch, Weobley, Belmont, Colwall, Kington and Bromyard for public access
Decision Maker: Director of Economy and Place (Historic)
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
The above sites have been closed for public
access during the Covid-19 pandemic. Bromyard has also been closed
due to building related issues. In line with previous government
guidance, a click and collect service has been available at
Leintwardine, Belmont, Colwall and Kington.
To ensure staff and customer safety, Herefordshire Council has been
adopting a phased reintroduction of its library service to the
public, firstly with the introduction of a click and collect
service and then with the gradual re-opening of its sites for
public access. With the removal by the government of all remaining
legal restrictions on Monday 19 July, re-opening the above sites
from week beginning 26 July will mean that all of
Herefordshire’s 11 libraries will be open for public access
once more as Hereford, Ross, Leominster and Ledbury libraries are
already open to the public.
Use of the libraries and any issues that arise will be monitored
prior to a further phase of re-opening to restore the opening hours
to pre-Covid restrictions levels.
Herefordshire Library Service has worked with the relevant other
Council Departments to ensure due process is followed to provide
the service in a manner that is safe for staff and customers.
