Decision details
Closure to public of all Museum, Library & Archive sites from end of opening hours on Friday 20th March until further notice
Decision Maker: Director of Economy and Place (Historic)
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
The decision has been taken due to the
unprecedented threat to Public Health posed by the outbreak of
COVID-19. Closing sites will support the recommendations of
national government for people to avoid places where there are
public gatherings. The decision has been taken to protect staff,
volunteers and the public from the threat of COVID-19.
Herefordshire Council is aware of its statutory obligation to
provide a ‘comprehensive and efficient’ library service
and is working to maintain access in as many ways as possible.
Amendments have already been made to allow the borrowing of larger
numbers of items, online resources will remain available and a Home
Delivery Service to Housebound and vulnerable customers will
continue. Additional resources will be invested in increasing the
stock of e-books and e-audio resources
